Introduction to Composites

Introduction to Composites is a course that serves as the first step to learning the principles of composites materials and manufacturing. No previous experience is required as the course is designed to teach the participant the language of the composites industry. The content areas covered by the course are:

Introduction to Polymers

Duration: 1 total hours - Total Cost: $200.00

Polymers are everywhere and many companies use polymers and/or process polymers. This course will give the participant an overview of polymeric materials, their properties, and methods of manufacturing.

  • Understanding processing parameters

Plastic Extrusion

This is a two-day course for employees involved in operating, maintaining or managing extrusion equipment. The content areas covered by the course are:

  • Extrusion machinery

  • Instrumentation and control

Implementation of Value Stream Mapping

The course is conducted on site, for the purpose of collecting process information to create a value stream map of your company’s products. Value stream mapping develops a plan for the implementation of lean manufacturing and is an essential step in becoming lean.

The course is a mix of classroom and live simulation. Participants learn by manufacturing simulated circuit boards in a traditional manufacturing setting. The simulation provides a setting for applying lean manufacturing principles in a continuous improvement environment.
